Default Newb question 4.7 vs. 5.7

I am looking to buy a Quad Cab 4x4 hoepfully within the next week. So I was wondering if you guys could give me some of the pros and cons of the Magnum vs. Hemi? I will be putting almost all highway miles on the truck, as I travel for business. I am shooting for a used 2006 or newer depending on price. Any serious input would be greatly appreciated. Or should I just go Cummins?

BTW, I will be hauling a 20' boat, and dirt bikes in the better weather months.

if you're going to be towing anything, Hemi. no question. you will regret getting a 4.7.

yes a cummins is an option too, but i'd shy away from newer diesels until they get all the emissions figured out.

Default Buy or Not?

I actually asked the same questions you are asking now about 2 days ago. If you look ahead on the threads to a question labeled "buy or not?" there are a lot of questions answered there. I also plan on buying a 07ish quad cab in may, and I was right where you are now. A lot of the guys (and girls) had some good answers out there as to which I should get. You should check it out if you get a chance. The general consensus was go with the hemi. it gets relatively close gas mileage to the 4.7, and it has the guts to go crazy if you ever need it.

Thanks for the quick responses. I've just been trying to justify the $2k-$3k difference between the two. But deep down, I know I want a Hemi. I'm looking forward to being a regular on here soon.

BTW, what kind of MPG can I expect? I'll be doing tons of Highway miles. Probably around 3-4k miles a month.

That varries depending on driving habits, wind, etc. I have a heavy foot. I run roughly 50/50 city/hwy and get between 16 to 18.

I get between 15-16 with the 4x4 and 33's doing 50/50 driving. And like SEMI I have a heavy foot!
