Default This is Why You Clean Your Throttle Body

So I took off my stock throttle body this morning and as you can see by the top pic, it looks pretty clean. Hey, if it looks that clean why would I ever need to clean it? Well, when I turned it over you can see why it needs to be cleaned. The entire back side of the butterfly is coated. Now I hadn't cleaned it in a while bc I knew I was going to be taking it off and putting a new one on but you get the point. So if you are having an idle problem don't think it couldn't be the tb just bc the front looks clean.

It's more from the EGR tube entering behind the TB but a new PCV isn't ever a bad idea.

There are only 37,000 miles on it. If it weren't for the fact that every other tb I have seen looks almost exactly the same after around 40,000 without cleaning I would have been worried that something was wrong.

I cleaned mine for the first time at 30k miles, looked about as bad as 'teaches, but I had a little on the front of mine as well. I just hit 40k a couple months ago, was thinking about doing it again at 45k, making it an every 15k mile thing from now on, with the Jeep GC as my daily driver for the past two years, that's gonna make it about a once every two year thing, as I'm now only averaging about 7500 miles a year on the truck...
