Question Mopar Cams

Just curious about this. I found a link to the 09 mopar performance parts catalog and saw that they have cams available for the 5.7L, so I was wondering if they will work in our trucks? There is also no hp/tq ratings on them just the specs of the cam so if anyone can translate that into numbers I can understand it be great.

This is the link,
http://www.mo-pod.com/pdf/09_Perform...log-120908.pdf

The cams are shown on pg 36

On a side note there is no "Cam" section on the Faqs page....

It sounds like it would work on 05 and under 5.7's, due to MDS. With a lift of .500" and .488" intake and exhaust respectively, it sounds like a decent street cam although admittedly I do not know what the stock grind is.

I am fairly sure it should be different than the stock cam as I doubt they would call the stock cam a performance cam.

Who the hell is beckoning for me now, Ramhunter1 had to damn yahoo me during dinner cause this was just so damn important...

Yes the Performance Cam will work in any 03-05 non-MDS 5.7 Hemi. Will not require any additional tuning, and only really needs beefier springs and retainers. The Mopar 6.1 springs and retainers are cheap and would be plenty strong enough.
It's not an '09 item, they've sold it since at least '05 if not before. It's relatively inexpensive as cams go, but unless you can change it out yourself, labor will kill. The going rate for labor on a cam swap is about $800 and I've seldom heard of anyone getting it done for under $600. Very labor intensive. IMO you gonna pay upwards of $800 on a cam swap in labor, spend a little extra and get a much better performing cam. Crazy Jay, Spartan and even a Comp 260 would outperform this one and still not require custom tuning.
The big issue with the cam is, just like the 6.1 cam, which the specs on this one is just under, it's a high LSA cam, meaning it's gonna give good HP gains up high, but lose torque down low. It's a cam much better suited for an LX Hemi or maybe a RCSB 4x2 lowered truck.
You got a heavy truck, like a Quad Cab or 4x4, or BOTH, you really want a lower LSA cam, 112 tops. Don't have the lope of a high LSA cam, but has gobs more torque...

Wouldn't a newer cam not work because the 05 and under Hemi does not have MDS and the new ones do so it seems like it would work but could be wrong

Scratch that post...I read the original wrong and was thinking about putting a 09 hemi cam into an 05 but instead he is talking about the 09 catalog my bad guys
