Default Infinity amp

I've found many threads about doing this classic "adding a sub to a factory system" but I didn't find anything conclusive.

I'm assuming on an 06 system, there are no pre-outs on the infinity amp? if this is the case then I'm probably going to have to use a line out converter. I found this one:

I've never run one of these before. do you just splice it into the existing speaker wires (leaving the factory speakers intact) to get the signal? This one looks a little cheap, anyone know of a better one or method?
