I put the 6 1/2's in my rear doors as well. Drilled new holes and they popped right in. Im a big fan of Alpine so I got the S-types in the back. Good sounding speaker, but not the quality I was expecting. They produce good bass, but I have subs so that doesnt really matter. The tweeters sounded good but I blew both of them (Im not sure how but its ridiculous). If your in the market for speakers, check out the Infinity kappas, those are what im going to put in next, amazing sound quality and great mids/highs.

Absotively. I used some relatively cheap Jensen's in mine. No issues at all.

There are always adapter plates and what not that you can put in, or just fab some up of your own... no big deal. If you want it bad enough, it can be done...

Its seems some people rear doors are 5 1/4 while others are 6 1/2s. I have an 04 Ram with the Infinity and I bought all new replacement speakers for my doors some time back also. The front was not an issue but like you, the rears didnt fit. Its seems the baskets was too big to fit in the door. Being I had some MDF lying around I laid my new 6 1/2 face down on the MDF to use as a template and drew my circle around it and got out my jigsaw. Once I had it cut out I painted it black and screwed it to my door frame and screwed the speaker to the MDF. I uses a bit of caulk around it where needed and have not had any issues since.

My sig will tell you what all I am running.

So if you have a quad pull your panels to see whether you have 5 1/4's or 6 1/2's before you order a new set.

good advice but i still dont see how dodge made their quad cabs with different size rear door speakers even when it is the same year and has same stock system. is there anyway to tell whats there so people wont have to pull down their panels? this could help a lot of people out there
