Default Oil level issues.

New to the forums and could use some advice. I bought a 2004 1500 quad cab 5.7 used with about 63,000 miles. Over the last 2 months of have it i have added about a 1.5 quarts of oil to it. I know this could be a bad thing but was hoping there might be a more simple solution. Also I have been watching the ground and seems to be not leaking any. I talked to someone who told me this could possibly be a bad pcv valve. Could this be the issue? Thanks for the help. Brett

Welcome aboard.

How many miles in two months? No leaks, but do you get a puff of blue smoke at start up or when you punch it? Any oil trails underneath?

As for the PCV, pull it out and see if you can shake the check ball. If so, they can be cleaned (replacements are a bit pricey for a PCV valve). If it won't move and cleaning doesn't help, it's time for a replacement.

That is a lot of oil in only 2K. The smoke won't be dark, it'll be blue. Sometimes hard to see depending on the light. Anyway, on to the PCV. Keep digging. Hopefully, it'll be minor.
