aftermarket lsd voids warranty?

aftermarket lsd voids warranty?
I posted in another thread that my truck did not come from the dealer with lsd. I have been looking at getting an aftermarket lsd (dtt or auburn). I talked to service guy at dealership and he said an aftermarket lsd will void the lifetime warranty. I asked if I could have them install the factory lsd (even though it can blow, but it would be better than nothing), and he said that would also void the warranty because it did not come from the factory with lsd equipped.
You got to be kidding me!!!!!!
Any thoughts?

I hate people who have no clue and talk out their a$$!!!
First of all, Magnuson-Moss forces them to allow you to use any aftermarket product you wish and honor the warranty unless they can prove the part you put in DIRECTLY caused the failure you seek warranty service for.
Also READ YOUR WARRANTY MANUAL THAT CAME WITH YOUR TRUCK. I just pulled up the .pdf's for the '08s with lifetime warranty.
It specifically states that any modification performed with NON-MOPAR parts are NOT covered under your original warranty (duh! This means you put in an Auburn Gear LSD, Chrysler ain't gonna fix it for free - no sh$t). However, ANY Mopar Part installed by a certified Chrysler, Dodge or Jeep dealer will be covered under your oem warranty.
Tell the service guy to blow it out his a$$!!!

Also if you do get a non-chrysler lsd just see if the parts place offers a warranty on all work and parts. I know for a fact that 4wheelparts has a 3yr warranty on stuff like that. So just replace it, Get a second warranty for the work/parts where ever you choose to get it done at if they offer it (may cost an additional $100-$200) and that will cover your *** if chrysler wont.

But the guy saying that you can't even have a Chrysler Dealer install a Mopar aftermarket part in without voiding your warranty is REALLY an asinine statement!!!

Hammer....you are absolutely correct. Would you please be so kind as to call my dealership and tell them how pathetic they are!!
Before I read your post I called Dodge directly and spoke to a very nice lady who answered all my questions. she said just what you stated. Installing a mopar lsd or an aftermarket lsd will not void the warranty at all. She did say if I have a failure with something and it is directly traced back to the lsd I installed the warranty will not cover that, but the problem must be a direct result of the part I installed. She said I should be fine and most dealerships are 'mis-informed' when it comes to warranty information. I think this was her way of saying the dealerships are terrible but please keep buying Dodge!!

You coulda saved the long distance phone call and just posted here, what do you think the purpose of having a forum is? If you thought you were gonna come here to meet chicks, you need to surf elswhere on the web, there are probably about 6 who post regularly on the entire forum, and about 4 of them are in the neon section...
