2003 4.7, add ons or hemi swap?
hello all,
I just purchased a 2003 1500 quad cab 4x4 with the 4.7. I need some advice. If I put a fast man TB, airram intake, exhaust, and programmer what kind of gains can I expect? How about cams? Is it worth doing all this or should I just put a hemi in it? What does that run ball park? New or used motor and when doing the swap what do I need to do to the tranny? Sorry for all the questions but the truck looks great but has now power and doesnt pull like my old diesel. I guess im having diesel withdrawls. Im looking for towing and speed not MPG

Its going to be cheaper to buy another truck with 5.7 in it than do the swap. To do the 5.7 swap you are going to need the engine, tranny, ecm, tcm, gas peddle assembly and probably a few others to make it work.
Here is a list to upgrade your 4.7: And on how I would do it if I had the opportunity to start over again. So this list is coming from my experience.
4.56 or 4:10 gears if you have the factory 3.92s then 4:10s wont be worth the cost to upgrade due to minimal gains. Also tire size is a factor in what gear ratio you go with. If you have the 3.55s get those swaped out immediately
Fastman tb
206 cams
superchips or sct
^^ These mods you should really do first since they well give you the largest gains.
Below are the minimal gain mods in my opinion, but still good to do though
Replace the factory y-pipe (this goes for any 3rd gen ram)
intake
exhaust
headers
electric fan
Worth it but cost too much money
Ported heads
2008 intake manifold, still waiting for results to be posted if the gains are worth it.
