wheels and tires
Ok so heres the deal, I want to upgrade to 35" tires on 17" wheels but I know my truck with just a torsion lift won't fit them. I want a suspension lift like the rancho but I also have airbags for towing so the lift would need those to be removed. I was thinking of getting just a body lift becuase the truck doesnt go offroading but an exception of towing a trailer through the desert. What are your thoughts of a body lift in my situation? Would the slightly larger tires noticably decrease the power or will the over all weight reduction from getting rid of the 20's make up for it? What is the lowest price I should be able to get this all bought and installed, i just need a rough estimate from someone that has done this?
heres a list.

I would get bfgoodrigh A/T's on procomp xtreme alloys 7089 matte black with the 3" body lift.

First of all, why would you have to get rid of the air bags to install a lift? I have a Rancho 4" suspension lift that I installed, I also have a set of Air Lift Ride Controller air bags that I also installed. The only deviation I made from the normal install as per the instructions for either was to weld the air bag brackets on the truck rather than drill the frame and use the supplied bolts. This was however, only due to personal preference and had nothing to do with the lift being on there.
There is no reason for you to go the expense of a suspension lift if you are a "pavement queen". A level via key crank or level keys in combination with a 3" body lift would be fine. Cost is about $350 for the lift, $100 for the gap guards (I strongly suggest you get them or at least make your own), and probably about $500-$750 installation depending on where you are from, Although I've seen some guys post where they've been unable to find anyone to install a body lift for under $1000. I guess it just depends on the area...

I started getting all kinds of responses that I was crazy, many people were either posting me or PM'ing me that I was nuts, they shopped all over and couldn't find a place under $700-800 just for the install.
The interesting thing, is your from CA, I believe and that's where most people tell me that body lift installs are in the $1000 range, labor only. Maybe you need to post up some quality installers in your area that will do a body lift for $650 parts and labor, because I know a bunch will jump on it in your area.
Going rate here is about $1200 if you use a chain, like 4 Wheel Parts and I've got a great small local shop will do the job for about $850 for everything...
Wow well if it costs more for labor than the actual product then i might have to rethink something. Is it possible to fit 35" with no lift and just a torsion lift or should I just step down to 33". My only problem is the stock 33" with the 20's just look too small and i have too much wheel well showing. I just need people's opinions.
Torsion bar crank and a set of wheels with the right backspacing will work. Won't be real off roadable and may rub just a little at full turn, but would give you the look you want and allow you to stuff 35s on there...
35/12.50/17 with 4.53 backspacing with just a torsion crank.once in awhile they will rub when i am at full turn and hit a bump. they just rub a little on the fender liner.
