Default Stalling at red lights??

I have a 04 Ram 1500 with 4.8L V8. For the last 6 months now the truck will not idle correctly, It jumps from roughly 300rpms to 1300 rpms and recently it has started to drop the idles so low that it will stall. This is happening at nearly every redlight now. I have done some research and found that resetting the ECU could help so i did that and It fixed the problem for about an hour then back to the same thing. It has been to the dealer ship twice now and they say there is nothing wrong with the truck. I beg to differ considering it stalled on the way out of the parking lot. Any ideas on whats going on here???

thanks alot
-david

It's been a known issue with the Hemi, but wasn't aware of it on the 4.7. There was a TSB for it on the Hemi, but the fix wasn't simply to reset the PCM, it was to have it flashed with the updated tune at the dealer.

It it never did it before, but does now, it could be a dirty throttle body, Throttle sensor, cruddy EGR or small leak in the evap system. All generate CELs, but often don't if the problem is not large enough. Try checking those out, plus, if you've never done it, your TB needs a good cleaning anyway...

i completely agree with hammer. start with the throttle body, if it's crudded up it might be chocking the engine at idle. takes about 20 minutes to clean.
