I am getting a fluxuation in rpm at highway speeds.

Default I am getting a fluxuation in rpm at highway speeds.

2002 Dodge Ram 1500 V8 4.7L 2WD 137,000 miles

You can hear and see the variation in rpm. It usually happens only in the morning drive and over 45 mph. Its almost like a mini slip. The RPMs will jump from 1500 to 2000 and back down again. It does not do it constantly just off and on.

I have read it maybe electrical. I have always had problems with corrosion on my batteries ever since I bought the truck brand new. My battery is over 42 months old and is a 36 month battery.

What else could it be? I am guessing I am not the only one that this has happen to. How to fix it or what could it be?

Sounds like the torque convertor locking and unlocking.

Low trans fluid and slipping/shifting? Once it's warm there is more volume... ?

ditto. are you going up and down any hills? is this when the truck is cold? is your foot going up and down even a slight bit?

Slight hills but nothing major. Yes, this is in the morning when the truck is cold or it is cold outside. I wish it was just fluid, I checked it over the weekend and it was fine, have not checked it when it was cold.

So how do you fix a torque convertor? If that is it how much does that set you back to get fixed?

No check engine lights.

OK so I had it fixed. Here is what fixed it incase someone else has the same problem. It was the "Idle Air Control Valve or Motor". This fixed the problem at high speeds and also with fluxuation when you start the truck.

So there you go, hope I save someone a headache.
