Default *audible notification*

2004 Ram 1500 Hemi
Every now and then I hear a "DING" (audible notification) without any lights coming on in the dash. I have 57k miles. Anyone have any idea what this could mean?

Yeah, do you have an overhead computer mileage readout? I get the Ding when my fuel gets low. Instead of showing 34 DTE (34miles of driving till empty) It will ding and then show LO for the fuel.

It did it after fueling up this morning. I added a half a tank of gas and shortly after that I heard the "ding".

Yea I do have the overhead computer.

I turned all the extra's off on my truck including the chime.
Do you wear your seatbelt? Could it be the seatbelt chime?

It's in the owners manual and maybe diff for your year and mine. I turned off the headlight delay when the truck is shut off, the seatbelt chime and the annoying horn honk when locked as well as the 2 pulse unlock control were all disabled

It was just a series of turning the headlights off/on and cycling the key. Nothing difficult to do, you just need to know the process is all. Wish i could help out there.

I found these

Turn off seat belt ding ding
Sit in truck, buckle seat belt, start truck and wait for dash indicator to go out, within 60 seconds unbuckle and buckle the drivers seat belt 3 times within 10 sceonds ending with the seat belt buckled, turn off the engine you will hear a single chime signifing that ou have successfully completd the programming.

Turn off horn honk with remote
Enter vehicle and close all doors, fasten sest belt, place key in ignition and turn on, do not start, press and hold the lock buton on remote, hold button at least 4 seconds but no more than 10 seconds, turn ignition off and wait 60 seconds,

It could be your lamp out warning. 3rd Gens are notorious for tail light faults, the computer will think your lamp is out, ding, then turn off the lamp out light because it realizes it's actually working. Mine does it periodically, sometime the yellow "lamp out" will flash, sometimes not. It's annoying, but not serious.

Mine does the same thing if I top off the tank. ( overfill )
Audible alarm ding, check engine light on, and gas gauge will go to empty.

After a few starts and a liitle less fuel all is well again. I am sure it is emmision issue -fuel in vapor canister.
