Default Hooking up a 7 pin Trailer Adapter

Hello,
I bought my 08 Ram and it did not come with the tow hitch or wiring harness. I bought a hitch off Craig's List and then went up to walmart and bought a Hopkins 7 pin wire adapter for my work trailer. Is there a good place to get to the wires for the connections? Any suggestions on what to do?
Thank you

There should be a wiring harness to hook up to where the pig tail is...atleast there was with my 02 1500... just look for your pig tail and there should be more wires for the 7 pin hook up...

dumb question but what is a pig tail? I have the 4 pin adapter there and it also plugs into the adapter for the smaller work trailer...
Thanks for your response

pig tail is the 4 pin sorry, but there should be some other wires farther up the harness and the 4 pin also plugs into the 7 pin like you found out....
