Default i have decided to scratch the idea of the sts turbo...

...dropped my z28 at the shop yesterday, and had a chat with Pete Sr.

he runs the shop, which is an auto repair shop, but over winter has become a performance shop it seems. he has a z28 with a 409 stroker...8.5 secod car. his sons new car is on the rack....it's a white grand national, which he was putting a turbo on. there was also an svt mustang in there getting a procharger installed, along with 3 total z28's in the lot (one being mine).

anyways, talked to him about what he thinks of them. he says the gains aren't worth it in bigger engined vehicles, and says it won't be worth it for my truck. so i brought up an engine swap, and he said that a build ls1 would probably be $4000 shipped...he also mentioned emissions...which ruined everything. i totally didn't keep that in mind...

1) i have a z28 that i can concetrate on powering up and 2) i need to get a hold of like a 92 or 93 dakota so i don't need to worry about emissions laws. but...that's a long ways away. i just got a drain tile thrown in all around my house and my basement is currently being finished. all my money = GONE =(

anyways, just blogging...and stirring up some activity and thoughts...

and where the hell is twink?

Yea the turbo is just too much money and work. I would like some more power, but I don't need it.

Twink get to the track and post some pics and video of your setup.

yea...the price of an sts turbo installed is the same as me dropping a new outofthebox ls1 into an old s10 (95...so i don't have to worry about emissions).

how the crap have you only spent $5000...lol

i'm actually hating my truck. i just got my z28 out, and like...driving that thing (and it's in way out of tune shape), then getting in my truck to head back home makes my truck feel like crap. i wanna buy like an old dakota and throw a 460 in it one sa, or an old s10 and have an ls1 put in...cause illinois emissions laws suck. but pre-95...no emissions are needed.

im glad i dont have emission laws up here, ours all opposite of yours newer vehicles dont need to be tested because there basically considered "clean" but anything 12 years or older needs to be tested..

big question...with all that work you've done....why? did u just want a fast v6? i mean, you're not gonna get more than like 400hp out of the engine i bet...with a blower or not...no where close to that much hp i don't think...
