looking at a nice 08 ram quad cab w/ the 4.7 and was wondering how they run? i know the 08 has a big boost in power for the 4.7 but wanted some first hand opinions. And secondly can any decent increase be had with an exhaust, cai, and maybe a tuner? any rwhp dyno #'s?

 

Alot of people on here have the 4.7 and wish they had a hemi. With the mds and all the hemi actually gets about the same mpg too.

 

Buddy at work has a 08 4.7 QC and loves it...it pulls a lot harder than I thought it was going to. It's OHC so if you every decide to throw some FI on it'll love it. The only handheld tuner I know of for the 4.7 is superchips...can't tell ya how they respond to bolt-ons.

 

I've got an 08 4.7L and I think it runs great. Of course, I've never owned a Hemi, but compared to the Ford F-150s I've owned in the past, the 4.7L is a lot better than the 4.6L or 5.4L Ford engines.

If you're going to do a lot of heavy towing with it, you will want the Hemi. I'm just pulling a small 3500# camper with mine and hauling light loads.
