Will this same procedure work on a 1998 Dodge Ram 1500?

4) Close all of your doors.
5) Turn the key to ACC then back off. The door locks will lock/unlock. This is the signal that the system is ready for reprogramming.
6) Push a button on your remote, doesn't matter which button.
7) If you have 2 remotes, then press a button on the 2nd remote within 1 minute of pressing a button on the 1st remotes. Both must be programmed at the same time. If you only have 1 remote then press a button 2 more times to signal that you only have one.
8) The doors will lock/unlock to signal the codes were received.
9) Remove the jumper wire from the data connector.

Good luck... I think I got everything
I have a 2005 w/ the same problem. Did this method work for anyone? I went to do it and realized that pin1 is blank. I looked it up on the service manual and it is supposed to be blank, so it's not just my truck. Therefore, I don't see how connecting a ground (pin4) to nothing is going to do anything. I was going to try other pins, but I'm not real excited about grounding out various pins. Any advice would be appreciated.
thanks

my pin one is blank also.
assuming that it is the upper left pin hole.

so any other things to try/do before I go to the dealer.

I do not have an original key bob.

Go to Dodge.com to the owners section and download an owners manual.

I have the owners manual.
the re programing is only IF you have an original working key bob.
I would not need to buy one if I had one.
I tried the other ways mentioned in this tread, but no luck there.

do you have a link for the shop manual?
it is a 2002 2500 ram with the ctd.

thanks for trying.

Pin 1 is unwired on a RAM. You would be grounding nothing.
