Default HELLA wiring... DIFFERENT QUESTION

Hey all,

as some of you may know, I have my HELLAS installed already. However, I want to try something different.

I know I have a fog lamp warning in my gauge cluster already, even though I dont have fog lights, yet.

So what I want to do is, wire my lights up to the fog lamp warning, so that when my HELLAS are on, it illuminates in my dash.

Roadblocks:

I know i need an activation to install my fog lamps, is the warning part of this 'activation'? Would I need to buy an extra bulb for this warning light? What other consideration should I look at, if I wanted to do this?

Well, I guess it's possible. All those lamps are soldered onto the cluster circuit board. Why not just put in an illuminated switch for the Hellas?

The dealer needs to turn the feature on for power to run off the foglight harness. The cluster bulbs are all there but the actual switch isn't. That warning lights gets power directly from the ecu. Sounds like more of a PIA than it would be worth. You can buy an Alarm LED if you wand a stealthy light in the dash. You could flush mount a little alarm led somewhere's in driver sight. That would be the easiest thing of all. However, you would need a relay for that. The lighted rocker switch is your best bet.

How much does the dealer charge to activate the fogs? I think it would be cool to tie the hellas to the fog circuit.

Depends on the service writer and mechanic. Some will try and charge 1hour diagnostics fee and others won't charge anything. I'm sure if you purchase from them and instal yourself and then go back, they will turn them on for free, but I don't think they will if you don't?????
I'm in NY. There's nothing free here. They want money just so you can explain your problems...lol
