Default 2002 ram 1500 does not start

Hopefully y'all can help me out.

I have a 2002 Ram 1500 with the 5.9 liter. I parked the car at the airport and when I returned, it would not start....here is what is going on:

The engine cranks strong but does not start. All my lights, windows, headlights, heater blower motor, etc.. all work in the accessory or run position. But, the gas gauge shows empty (there is 15 gallons in there), the battery voltmeter shows 0, the oil pressure is 0 when cranking. At one point i turned the key and the gauges started to work...car started but would only stay running if i had my foot on the gas. After a few tries, it's back to a No Start condition and the gauges are not working....

Could it be ignitions switch? Anyone have this happen to them?

maybe this is skim related? What is the little red indicator light on right side of the mph gauge doing when the truck does this?

i am guessing throttle positioning sensor. you should post this in the 2nd gen forum. lots of 5.9 trouble shooters there.

This seems to be a problem that no one has been able to pin down even on other sites. I have the same problem w/ my 2000 Dodge 1500 Conv Van 5.2L - Gauges off- no start. This seems to be an electrical problem- sometimes it starts right up and sometimes it takes more than 15 min of waiting. First it was occurring once in a while now it is every time I'm on the road.
No, it's not due to a bad or dead battery and the fuel level is more than adequate- the engine cranks strong.

I solved my problem. There is a 12v power lead that is routed from the driver's side front, under the battery box, behind the fender, back over to the passenger side and into the computer. There are several 12v feeds to the computer. The sheathing around this particular lead had detiorated about 1 inch; the copper was green in color, had corroded and was no longer working. I just replaced that one section and she was back to normal.

Check all 12v feeds to the computer!

(Before this fix) Did the engine die and the gauges quit while you were driving ?
