4x4 leveling only
ok guys i know this is probibly been covered but,i need to know who has what and what kind of problems they have had with a 2 inch leveling kit. the dealer is going to put in new struts on my truck and will do the leveling kit at the same time.i have a problem with a thumping in my front end and they are going to replace the struts,i dont think its the problem but im not going to argue about getting new struts! LOL i think it could be ball joints meself.or even tierod ends, but like i said im nit going to argue! i know some guys have 2 wheel drives but i need to hear from the 4x4 guys,no offence to the 2 wheel guys!! thanks for any and all your help guys! and by the way i did do a search but have only read threads from the 2 wheel drives. yellowram
I have a 2008 ram 1500 QC 4x4 - I had a shudder in 4x4 high without a leveling kit. but I never noticed because I bought the truck over the summer, never used 4wd until winter.
I installed a 2.5" Hell Bend Steel leveling kit and it looked perfect... but it made the 4wd shudder worse. I went down to a 2" leveling kit and the shudder lessened but it still pretty bad.
I like the look too much to take it out... so I haven't used 4wd...
I am planning to buy the KORE high angle inner CV joint kit soon, as I believe that's where the issue is eminating from.
The dealer installed a new driveshaft and even rebalance it, still no difference.
My buddy has the same truck, 2007 though, he has no problems with his HBS 2.5" leveling kit. Go figure.
Anyway, that's my experience...

Using stock shocks (they aren't struts) will shorten the ride height. You will bottom out sooner than normal. Most opt to get the Rancho extended shocks for another $120. Just a heads up. Also, you'll need to get an alignment after the level kit is installed.
what he said!!!
off topic, but RH, I really had to double take your avatar. I didnt think it was you. Im so used to seeing the buck...

Ok, to kind of piggy back on this topic....I have an '07 4x4 4.7L with stock tires on it and want to do the 2" level kit. Will the stock tires looks stupid? Or would I need to wait till I buy new tires? Thanks guys!
