The are weld on, and you get get them in 2.25 or 2.5 inch inlets.

I know you said you were planning on 3 inch exhaust, without reducers, but I don't recommend it. A full 3 inch system won't have the velocity you need to scavenge the exhaust properly. I've got a single 3" pipe coming from the headers that goes into a single Cherry Bomb Extreme muffler that is 3" inch inlet, dual 2.5" outlet and to the tips as you see them. So it is actually 2 pips coming off the muffler to two separate tips, not one pipe into a split tip.

And yes, I do have a sound clip:

Yes, I know the flowmaster sticker is still on the truck in the picture, I peeled it off yesterday
Thanks for the link and the sound clip. I was on the fence on whether or not to go with 2.5 or 3 inch pipes. I read what you are talking about as far as going with 3", but I am fairly sure I have also read others going with 3" and not lose any power. Do you think I am making a mistake on going with 3" vice 2.5"?

If you're going single in/single out 3 inch is the way to go, but if you're going dual out, then 3 in/2.5 out is the way to go, IMO. You're not going to lose much by your plans, just personal preference. It's also easier to find tips that are 2.5" rather than 3".

A straight single pipe at 3" makes more power than a 3" pipe into two 2.25" pipes.

Since my exhaust rarely ever actually makes it to the tips, mine don't really ever get hot. That might be why the 99 cent paint is still holding up so well.

Here is mine, high heat satin black, from autozone w/ an industrial grade clear. Sanded w/ 80 grit then sprayed several coats of black and several very generous coats of clear.

I am not looking to go dual out after the muffler just thought two tips looks better than one.
