Default Brake light and ABS light are illuminated..

Just recently (as in about 2 days ago) the Brake light and ABS light have illuminated while driving my truck. They illuminate and stay on the whole trip (trips are usually 10-15 minutes). What does it mean when these two lights are on??

Thanks,
Shane

I'm not totally sure of what it means, but you need to get the ABS/Brake codes pulled. If it was just the ABS light I'd say that there is an issue which may not let ABS operate properly. Which in itself isn't to big because the brakes will still work. I don't know if your truck has trc control or not, but on some vehicles trac control is routed thru the ABS sys to operate. With the brake light on I would advise against driving the truck until you can figure out whats wrong. That means that the compter has flagged an issue that could led to possible brake failure.

I had both the Brake and ABS light on my 03. It was the front Abs senser in the wheel hub bearing causing the problem.
Good Luck.

I had this in my old Dakota, and I could never solve the problem, so I'd be interested if you do figure it out (just for my own knowledge). They would come on intermittently - sometimes it would be on and would stay on for a week, then go out for several weeks. I got the code read at an independent garage, and their computer came up with a "Front Right ABS Sensor" bad. Trouble was, I did not have a front right ABS Sensor because I only had rear ABS (and I did check, there was no sensor up there). I tried replacing the rear ABS sensor, and that did not help either. I brought it to a dealer, and they couldn't figure out what was wrong either. They blamed my aftermarket radio, my remote starter/alarm, but the light had actually started before both of those were installed. The only thing I can think of is that there was a short somewhere that was causing these to light. I eventually just ignored it because the brakes worked fine, and the dealer even tested the ABS system and said it was functioning fine as well. I just had to schedule my trip to the inspection station for a time when the lights were out.
