Low speed rumble - Any ideas?
Hey guys, I know you've had plenty of vibration posts here, but I was hoping someone could at least point me in the right direction here. My 04 1Ton QC 4WD began a low frequency rumble between 15-20 mph a couple months ago. It came on suddenly and its mostly on deceleration although not exclusively. I had a mechanic friend check it out and he claims its the driver side coil spring which I found preposterous, but when he bangs on the spring it produces the same sound I'm hearing. I expect I'll check the hub bearings since they might cause the spring to vibrate if they are going out, but I'm at a loss as to what the rumble could be coming from otherwise. Any help would be a blessing, so if you can please help me out. Thanks, Mike
My dads '90 bronco would do this, also at moderate acceleration too. It ended up being the catalytic converter. But it sounds like you have the problem isolated.
Is the truck lifted, or have a leveling kit on it?

No lift on the truck and it is a diesel so the coverter is out. I think I have it isolated, but can't be sure. I happens ONLY at low speeds and I have no other issues or noises at other speeds. I do have loud, bumpy mud and snow tires on the truck but would be surprised if they could be the source of the problem. I was hoping this was a common problem that someone would recognize but perhaps not. Thanks.
