Well if i get the battery back and I'm still having issues, I will drive the truck over and have them test the alternator. I really hope its ok, I could use the money saved to clear up the sludge problem.... Unless I can get it rebuilt pretty cheap.

if you have a voltmeter, put it across the battery, check it with the truck off, then start the truck. it should be 12.6 ish with the truck off and 14.5 with the motor running.

You mentioned rain in your first post. Sounds like moisture in the computer connection to me. Use some compressed air to clean out/ dry the connections. Might save you some headaches and money!

just make sure you check the alternator aswell cause a new battery is only good for so long with a bad alternator.... and at 200k that sounds about the right time for a new one if you havent already replaced it...

Sounds like the alternator to me also, I just had this happen a couple weeks ago. Easiest switch ever though, 20 minutes total. But anyways, it only sounds like the alternator because it wasn't charging the battery. Really in the end, it's most likely the battery. I've got to replace mine soon too.

Hey everyone, here is an update:

So I just got home and put a new battery in the truck, connected the terminals and it fired up great and idled with no problem. However, all of my crazy dash lights are still on. Airbag, ABS and Park Brake.

When I start the truck, all the lights are off and then about 2 seconds later I get 2 tones and they all come on.

Ive checked the fuses that relate to the abs system and they seem ok. Is there anything else I should check or anything I can do?

Please help, I'm getting worried!!!!

Could this fix it....If i drive the truck for a bit the computer would reset or something along those lines? I havent driven it yet?

Unplug the battery for about a half an hour to reset the PCM. But if you already switched the battery out you may have already reset it.
