Exhaust System Questions
#123
Yeah tell me about it, I want it to die too. The length of this thread is equivalent to the bull crap I've been dealing with. One minute I think I've made my mind up, and then the next, it's totally changed. I've gotten so warped from my last truck I've just become so indecisive. I used to not twice about getting dark tint, or going with the loudest muffler, but now I'm always second guessing if it's going to be too loud inside the cab and pissing off my passengers blah blah. But hell, I'm the one paying payments on this truck, I can do whatever I'd like. I'm either going to buy the Super 40 or 44 tomorrow, and not think twice about it.

Geeze what the hell is taking you so long to figure out? After reading through the posts I am completely lost as to what you are even thinking of doing for an exhaust setup!!! Are you making your own catback system or just throwing a muffler in? are you going true duals or SI/DO? Why do you want to do a DI/DO 2.50"? Im seriousely lost here!!!
There are better/louder mufflers out there than Flowmasters, flowmasters to me are bottom of the barrel when it comes down to everythingbut sound. Why dont you look into the Cherrybomb Extremes or the Aero3030? both are loud and give a nice thoaty sound and performance. Or gut the stock muffler so its technically straight pipes.
Also there are a few things that can be done that can slightly alter the tone of the exhaust. Removing the resonators and adding headers are the two obviouse ones however by just adding the CAI to my truck made my exhaust slightly deeper than it was with the stock box.
Personally I like my truck semi quiet with a light-medium rumble at times specially when the wife is in the truck or when I want to hear myself think or listen to music yet get the performance that I wanted so I went with a Borla Catback. That being said I also love to open the cutout and set off every car alarm in the neighborhood, a few of my neighbors have came over saying that they thought a damn stock car was rolling down the road. I ordered my cutout from DMH, they shipped it a fewdays after I ordered it and it came by the end of the next week (it was 7 workdays from the time I ordered it til I got it). The install on mine was a PITA but theres a whole other thread devoted to that, but since yours is a quadcab yours would be very simple.
