Default Evap system?

what is the evap system exactly? i've got two codes coming up, and i suspect there is a hose that either has a leak or a small cut or something that would cause it to lose pressure and set off the code.

Gas cap would be the easiest thing to try first...yours being 6 years old the seal could have dried out. A smog shop will be able to test the cap too...dunno if they'll do it for free or not.

Oh and the evap basically recycles fuel vapors....if you look by your gas tank you'll see a black box next to it. That's the charcoal canister that stores the vapors and then later when it's purged the vapors go back into the engine for burning.

hmm, well the codes are p-0440 (evap sys. perf.) and p-0456 (evap leak monitor small) would this be a perforation in the canister or a hose?
