first of all are you running a 1500 or 2500 as we all know there are 2 different types of sespensions. If the 1500 yes leveling kit of spring spacer n the front to level it out you will clear 33 easy. Although for 600 dollars you can a 3 inch lift form rancho which is add aleaf in the back, and spring spacer in the front, does nothing to drive shaft angle and so on. Whatever you want. I htihnk a lifted truck without going over board is th eway to go.

I have a 02 Ram 4X4 with the stock 20's. I want to drop down to like a 17X10 weld rim and 33X12 1/2X17" Swamper TRXUS. Anyone know what would be the minimum amount of lift needed to clear this set-up?? Would a body or suspension lift be the way to go?

Well you are half right. First, yes the 1500s and 2500s have different suspensions since the 1500 has IFS and the 2500 runs a live front axle on a coil spring set up. Second, there is no spring spacer leveling kit for the 1500, 2500 yes and even '01 and earlier 1500s, but not the '02 and up 1500s with IFS. The only way to level these trucks is with a set of reindexed torsion bar keys. Truxx makes a nice set of these that a few people I know run and really like. Yes a 1500 will run 33s without rub depending on the tread, I'm not sure that a 33M/T will avoid rubbing in full suspension compression but an A/T should. I know someone who is running 34s on his rig with the Truxx keys and he doesn't rub with his BFGoodrich M/Ts but he says 35s would. Here is the Truxx link if you wanna check it out:
