I recently put my Gibson Supertruck exhaust on my Ram. I am really pleased with the sound and power it offers. It has square tips on it and am wondering if that impacts the sound of the exhaust. If i put smaller circular tips on it would that change the sound/airflow at all...i am just curious if it would make a difference and to hear what you think, Thanks.

 

I have done some comparisons between the tone that you get out of different sized tips and have found that it makes a very small difference if any at all. The only way a tip really has an effect is if it is a resonated tip.

 

What is a resonated tip...i think my dad used to one on his old exhaust... what do they do

 

It is a tip that has two walls and the space in between is filled with a material intended to change the exhaust note. I have a vid on YouTube comparing the same muffler with regular tips and resonated tips. I will post up the link when I get home so you can hear what a resonated tip does (or doesn't do) to exhaust tone.

 

Thanks, and just one more question, do they sell really short resonator tips, under 12 or so inches?

 

i found that Monza makes "Big Bore" resonator tips that are 10" long, if i take off my tips will that make the exhaust louder...because i want it louder, not quieter...Thanks again
