give it a shot it cant hurt. If your alt is shot you should have a battery light on. If you can take out your alt. after your test drive and have it tested at your local parts store...

That is assuming that you have the 5.9 gas burner.

Frog your idea is a good one, but his truck is a 2002.... no hemi in those...

there is some truth to that. It really might just need to be driven around a bit. thats why you drive it to the parts store. if the alternator is bad, it'll crap out on you when you get there, the voltage on the battery will likely be low (not necessarily, alternator might still be running but running weak), and you can check it when you get there.

You didn't look hard enough for a tread on this because i have the same truck and had the same problem and i posted it. I also put a new battery in with no change. Go to your ABS module/pump under the hood on the drivers front fender, unplug the harness and look for corrosion. Clean the connector and that should work.
