Default fluid changes. when and what to use?

im soon to hit 81k miles, i changed my oil about 1k miles ago. now im wondering when would be a good time to replace most of the other fluids, the truck came with the lsd. so when would be a good time to replace the fluid in that and with what?

also, transmission. when and what fluid on that also?

anything else i should be needing to replace fluid wise?

There is a Faq section that has all this info on the page before this one.

Trans should be flushed at 50kmi or sooner if you do lots of hauling
Front diff...every 30kmi
Rear diff every 30kmi or 15kmi with lots of hauling

I would just assume the previous owner did nothing and just go through and do the front diff, rear diff, transfer case and trans flush.
Don't believe the trans flush stories. That's all they are. Only guys who let their vehicles go for way too long have issues when flushing. Your not that overdue.

while your changing your tranny fluid you might as well re-adjust the bands in your tranny.

There are no bands in the 545. I'd say skip the flush, unless you want to use the tranny pump to accomplish that. A drop 'n' drain is usually enough. Mine took seven quarts of fluid and hasn't needed any since. It's a messy job, but not terribly difficult. Lotsa newspaper and/or plastic sheeting.

Change the fluid and both filters unless you know that's been done already. I used Valvoline ATF+4 in the tranny, and Mobil 1 75W-140 in the rear diff. 75W-90 in the front one if it's 4x4. Don't forget the friction modifier in the rear pumpkin.

Look carefully at the clutch-pack clips while the cover's off. If they're failing, take 'em out before they wreck something. If you can afford it and you tow much, consider a larger rear diff cover.

A Seafoam treatment will be entertaining and the TB and PCV valve need to be cleaned, most likely. If the check ball in the PCV valve won't move, it'll need a new one. If it's still on the original plugs, that's WAY overdue.
