Default Hard Shift Clunk (Park-Rev-Drive)

I have an 03 2500 and yesterday I noticed that it was a hard shift with a clunk noise when shifting into Reverse and then shifting into Drive. Thats the only time it seems to do it. No clunks or binds when moving.

I checked the U-joints and they seem fine and also checked the tranny fluid it's up to the mark, but it does look lighter in color.

Any input or advice would be greatly appreciated

Thanks in advance,
Chris

They say the trans computer is constantly adjusting how hard it shifts between P-R-N and will fix it after a dozen or two shifts.

^^^^Possibly, but that could also be Chryslers notorious excessive ring/pinion backlash in the rear end. My father owned a 2000 Junkota that had that problem. I have detailed roughly 20 Junkota's and Rams that have had that problem. Mostly the Dakota's over the rams.
