Default how do i get new Rancho shocks to expand?

it's a stupid question, but I'd rather ask a stupid question instead of do something stupid. Putting rancho shocks in the front tonight, they come completely compressed. how do i get them to expand, elongate?

was even easier than that. I just put my claws around the damn thing and pulled, that did it. no hoops on one end on these, just have a stud on the top end.

phucking old shocks were like everything else with this truck, rusted on, damn chicago saltin the **** outta everything. had to cut the stud off of the top of each. took about 2 hours to take the old ones off, and about 10 minutes total to put the new ones on. WOW what a difference, should never have waited this long to get them. and now I got two more made in USA parts on the truck.
