Looking to buy an 02-04 RAM
I'm looking to buy an 02-04 Ram and trying to find some info on 1500 vs. 2500, tips, opinions on options, engine choices, etc. I was searching around the forum but, didn't find anything. I don't want to bore anyone with the same old questions... rather than ask them here, can you point me in the direction of where this info may be?
TIA

Depends upon what your tastes are. When I bought mine the hemi was only a $900 option. Well worth it. My last truck was a dakota with the 4.7 and got worse mileage than I get with my hemi. The 4.7 is a great motor, but underpowered for a full size truck.
Get the 2500 if you get a 4x4 and plan on lifting. You can lift a 1500, but the cost difference between a lift for a 2500 vs a 1500 will nearly pay the diffenence in truck prices.
If you plan on towing, say over 6000 lbs, on a regular basis, consider the CTD.

I love my truck. . .2500 4x4 CTD 6spd.
if I had to do it over again I prolly would have opted for the 3.73 rear end, but the fuel mileage between the 3.73 and 4.10 that I have isnt all that much.
with the hemi or 4.7l the geaing isnt that much of a problem. but with the Cummins it does start to become an issue if your into speed. when I cruise at 70 in my truck I'm turning just shy of 2300 rpm. that might not seem like alot, but red line is only 3200. with the 3.73 gearing that becomes around 2000.
the one thing I personaly believe the Cummins has over any gasser engine is longevity. take care of the engine and it will still run like a top LONG after the frame , body, axels, transmission, and you are gone. 3-400,000+ is not uncommon.
