Easy fix, just go get a piece of 1/4 sheet metal and have it sheared to the same dimensions as the plate, J&B weld and you have something that no man on earth will be able to rip in half without heavy tools. And if you're really sadistic take a 4" grinder plus a file and sharpen the ---- out of the edge so whomever tries to get the fingers behind the plate will be in for a rude awakening. Or you could, if you have WAY to much time on your hands, wire up a capacitor and run the pos+ to an isolated wire around the plate so they'll get nice decaffeinated "wake up".

Why on Earth did someone go thru the trouble of cutting the plate in half? If they wanted the sticker that bad, I would think they would just steal the WHOLE plate. Seems that it would take a lot longer and be more noticeable cutting a plate in half in a parking lot... If people are in fact cutting the plate, I don't think some plastic cover and tamper resistant screws are going to stop them, although they might move onto an easier target.

i have no idea, i would think they'd take the entire plate too, but judging from the cut edge it looks like they bent the right side forward and just did a quick cut somehow. seems like alot of trouble to me too, when taking the entire plate wouldve been quicker and easier. who knows, humans are stupid thats the only excuse to explain half the ---- that goes on nowadays...

CT moved the registration stickers from the rear plate to inside on the windshield for that exact reason, people were cutting the corners of the license plates with the sticker off.

I think the first mod I ever did on my truck was take the front license plate off. I hate that thing. Especially with these traffic lights taking pictures of you now, screw that.
My registration was $185(good for 2 years), and I thought that was expensive. But $500, that is extortion.

yup, just bought my 07 about 2 months ago and got my registration in the mail a few weeks ago with my new tag. i paid about $15k for the truck, and my registration was $457! and guess what?! i gotta pay ANOTHER $457 this august since thats when my registration expires. looks like im paying the registration from the time the previous owner left off until the following year, regardless of the fact that it sat at the dealership during that time and not in my garage. so i paid for 12 months at a ridiculous rate, but only get 5 months of "service" (if thats what you want to call it) before i gotta renew again...

terminators should not be politicians

Just wondering, did you only have the top screw on on the plate? There hasn't been that much of an issue with this in Missouri yet. How ever, it is true that people will steal just about anything these days. Hell, when I was working at Wal-Mart, I used to clip my name badge to the rear view mirror so I didn't lose it. I parked at school one day, and I guess forgot to lock the doors. Instead of stealing the $1,000 worth various audio equipment, all they took was the damn name badge. To make it even more funny, I turned in the missing badge to corporate, and the idiot that took it was using it to try to steal from a store. This guy was literally dressing in associate uniform and walking into stores, taking crap right off of shelves and walking right back out. Sad thing is, no one caught him until I made a report about the badge being stolen......
Sorry to hear about that.... That is total BS.

i know im pretty pissed about it myself. i remember living in tennessee when registration was a flat $75/yr whether you drove a 87 cavalier or brand new Modena 360. everyone paid the same low flat fee per vehicle. what cali is doing is total bull****
