Default Removing spare tire

I am a new owner of an '03 Ram 4x4 and recently found there is no tire tool or jack under the passenger seat. I will pick these items up from Harbour Freight - but is there any way to lower and remove the spare tire without the tool that the truck comes with from the factory?

Thanks in advance.

Joe

Default Spare tire removal

Tried a 9/16" - too big, tried a 1/2" - too small. Will try some metric wrenches tonight. Maybe I'll try the salvage yard this weekend to get the proper tire tool.

i remember that a 8 point socket worked better than a 5 point maybe that will help cause the end of the shaft is square so nothing fits exactly but there is one size that will grab it and work, my truck didnt come with that tool either or a spare tire lol so i had to get all that stuff at a junk yard
