Default 04 4.7L ram 1500 rough idle problem

Ok so i have a 2004 ram 1500 4.7L with 63K miles on it. back in the winter it began to run rough when i first turned it on and the idle would settle after a minute or two. Now its summer and the idle is becoming even rougher in warm weather and takes longer to settle than before. Theres no stalling or problems idling after driving but i can tell that its getting worse with each trip i make, i did a search on the forum and im guessing the fuel pump is going bad?? help please, i need to take a cross country trip next week!

Possibly, but there are a lot of things can cause a rough idle. Dirty throttle body, clogged EGR, small evaporator leak could also be your problem. I'd start with the TB, because even if it's not your cause, it never hurts to do it and you'll gain performance.

The egr stuck open a little would do that. Probably wouldn't be a bad idea to change it anyway since they seem to go out about that time anyway.

i forgot to add i had a tune up done about 3 months prior to the starting of the rough idle, TB was cleaned out and the plugs replaced and all that. it seems to get worse with each trip but never stalls or gives me problems other than the startup...

I,m having simular problems with the idle rpm.(just not allways)
Can you explain how to clean the throttle body and what parts of the TB to pay special attention to. materials to use etc?
Thanks

Here is a link to the fac's section. This procedure should work whether your running a 5.7 or 4.7. The procedure is pretty basic and it won't take long to pull the throttlebody. Check out the Fac's section there is a lot of good info and DIT topics covered.
