I'm thinking you are backfeeding power thru the radio and confusing the computer in the truck. You really shouldn't have to run a new wire from the battery for the radio - that's already up in there for the stock radio. Like you said in your followup, there should be a 12v feed, and one that's hot when the accessory or ignition is on.
Like others have said, I'd back out from where you are... Uninstall the radio and get it back to how it was before you started. Make sure it works the way it was with the old radio. Then go buy the correct harness and start working from there. I don't think there are any aftermarket radios (especially the major brands like Jensen) that won't work by simply plugging in the adapter harness. The only time you should have to run extra wires is if you are adding other things like amps, subs, etc.

I've done it without a harness both on one of our own vehicles and when showing a buddy how to hook his radio up when the stock wires were gone and we had to run all new wires. That's what we did with our vehicle was run all new wires too. However, if you can use a harness I highly recommend it as it makes things much easier and makes them much easier to return to stock also.

I'd try uninstalling what you did and putting the stock plug back on then just getting an adapter harness.

Well I have the a Scosche harness i had tied into the factory harness when I had my old JVC radio prior to the Jensen. I used the same harness for the Jensen but when i put the 12v switched wire on the harness to the 12v switched wire on the radio, i got no power but if i put the switched and hot wires together the radio came on..

I guess i'll take it out tomorrow and try to figure something out.
I found the fuse for the interior instrument panel ICM and i'm taking the fuse out tomorrow and replacing it because I'm pretty sure i blowed it somewhere in the process.

Thanks to everyone who gave me some ideas of what could be wrong...
