Default Spiderwebbing in paint?

Do any of you guys know how to get rid of spider-webbing in paint or scratches only in the clearcoat?

I have heard a rubbing compound will do the trick, if so what kind and where could I find it?

I have claybared and it did not help. I have also used a scratch remover by Kit, turtle wax polishing compound (which only made them worse), and a Meguiars paint cleaner. NONE OF THESE WORKED! Please HELP!

These scratches are really getting on my nerves because you can not see them if you look directly at the car, but if you look from the side (parallel) you can see a bunch of them.

Please Help!
Thanks.

I have use meguiars products with good success for years, I did a quick Google search for you and found this http://www.meguiarsonline.com/forums...ad.php?t=30913. I haven't had to remove spiderwebbing yet since I bought this truck with 10 miles on the odometer and have been meticulous about how I wash it, only using microfiber towels, since this is the first real nice paint job I've ever owned on a vehicle. A little spiderwebbing is inevitable, short of keeping it in a museum and never driving it, so keep me posted.

Thumbs down

Thanks, but these scratches are at random, just like they would be if it were from keys or rings. They are not swirl marks. They are in the clearcoat and nothing deeper. For some reason they are especially prominent under fluorescent lighting and they seem to be mostly on the roof and trunk. But like I said, if you look straight at it they do not appear; it is only if you are looking from the side that you can see them.

I do not think it is a paint quality issue because the car with the problem is an older Mercedes with factory paint, which is obviously high quality.

I am kind of obsessive about this car and I would love to have the problem resolved as I might show it relatively soon due to it's age.

I might try the compound and the scratch X. I have had good experiences with Meguairs in the past. Perhaps other products may apply in this case.

Thanks for all the help so far and all other help in the future.

get it buffed out. I have some clear coat scratches and buffing it will take them all out. I would take it to a compitent shop and let them do it.

Wink Spiderwebbing in paint

Update: I just called the Meguiars customer Care Center and spoke to a live person believe it or not.

He was very polite and he recomended Meguiars Ultimate compound. He said that it would make the paint like glass.

Here is a link if anyone is interested:

I've always liked Meguiars.

I will try it out soon. I'll keep you posted.
