Default 16" wheels?

I have a 2007 Ram 1500 and need some new tires bad. 17" tires are stupidly way more expensive than 16" so I was looking to see if anyone knows if a 16" rim will clear the breaks. Any help would be much appreciated.

this question is asked at least once a week. Nope, and not 16.5s either. 17" is the smallest diameter that will clear the calipers...

also, i was told that on different models, specifically that came with the 20's you may not be able to fit the 17's due to over-sized calipers, does anyone know if this is total bull**** i think it is, but i dont know.
