hey guys I just got a '03 dualquad hemi and man this thing is sucking more gas than my '68 GTO 462 cubes-so far i've got 160 miles out of a full tank and my ceiling milliage thing it always starts reading 14.0s the it'll stick to 6.0s miles per gallon- it's this right? i do have a litttle heavy foot, but this past gas tank full i did take it easy just to see what mileage i'll get. I'm also a mechanic and have my own snapon scanner and there is no trouble codes and all the numbers are where they supost to be. I also just got front and back original oxigen sensor but the truck still sucking too much gas. also I have a remote start so every morning I make sure the engine warn befre I take off and yes my engine have the ticking noise!!!!!! thanks!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Reprogram the CPU and let it relearn the fuel curves. If it STILL sucks too much gas, take it into the dealer and let them reflash it. 6 mpg is WAY WAY WAY too much.
My Manual says to use 87 oct and if you pull anything then use 89...but if you just use 89 your wasting your money.Don't forget to check your air pressure .I keep mine at 38 #'s. I have 17 inch tires.
the roof meter isn't exactly accurate. Keep your tires at about 37-38 PSI (same for either rim size). And idling for 10 minutes is along time- the hemi warms up in about 2 minutes for us- even our 87 camaro warms up within 5 minutes.
I just checked the 03 manual, and they recommend 89 octane for the Hemi (5.7L) for "optimal performance." Under the 87 octane section it says "for all engine except the 5.7L."
did I mention that I'm in chicago and here the temp's are right now in the 20's over night, so when I jump in the truck in the morning the gauge is bearly reaching the 1/4 mark!!!!!!!!!!!!
