Is your truck 2WD or 4WD? What size rims and tires are you running?

A 4wd can only fit a maximum of 4.56 gears, but a 2wd will fit up to 4.88s.

Do you know what gears you are currently running? 3.55s or 3.92s? If 3.55s, given your tire size, the jump to 4.10s would probably be good, but if you're running 3.92s bump it up to 4.56. Genuine Gears, Yukon, or Motives are all good brands, and as long as you're at it, you might want to look into an differential.

Mileage around town may actually be better, but highway gears will suffer in the mpg dept. If your gonna do it and want a noticeable difference. Get the 4:56's. It'll make you feel that you just dropped in a Hemi.

Theres a guy over on DT that has some 456s for sale for like 100 or so. Not a bad deal at all. A bit late for me being I just bought 456s and a new LSD.

the 4.10 are great gears for around town driving, i barely need to touch the gas in my dakota 4.7 and away it goes, the 3.55 were just a dog, and i only gained 300 rpm on the highway at cruising speeds. (70 mph),

Rule of thumb is 4.10s for 33s and 4.56 for anything over for the best balance of performance and fuel economy. If you don't care about losing a mpg or two on the interstates or tow regularly, then just go for the 4.56s no matter what the tire size...
The brand is nowhere near as important as the place you choose for the install. Setting a ring and pinion in general, is not easy and on a Chrysler axle it's a bi*ch. Just choose a brand name ring and pinion set, get a good install kit that uses Timken Bearings, then find yourself a place that does this on a regular basis. After you get them, proper break in is critical.
Most of us who have them feel that gears are our single best mod...
