Default 2nd gen vs 3rd gen

Does anyone know where I can find a good comparison? I just want to see the difference in engines/mpg/life of the truck. There is a 2001 sport I see for sale that looks in good shape, unsure of the engine. I would like something with some power and decent MPG. But I like the soild axle of the 2nd gen.

I think there was a thread on this a while back. But I suggest test driving both and choose the generation you prefer.

P.S. you won't find a truck with decent MPG's, but your definition of decent may be different than mine.

Here's a recent thread on the same subject

https://dodgeforum.com/forum/3rd-gen...r-2nd-gen.html

I liked my 2nd gen truck. You won't be dissapointed with a nice 2nd gen truck. Now that being said I love my 3rd gen truck and don't regret trading in my 2nd gen.

I've had both the 2nd gen ram and the 3rd gen ram, personally I like my 3rd gen way more.
