More HP with spark plug double ignite
I just changed my plugs in my truck,2003 ram 1500, last week and thought i remembered hearing something about how there is a way to get both spark plugs to fire at the same time in each cylinder. Shouldn't this create more horsepower? Does anyone know how to do this or a website with DIY instructions? And most importantly, would it be worth it?
they do fire 2 at once to fire the cylinder, but its not the same coil doing bolth. for each cylinder it is fired by the coil on that piston and a coil from the opposing side connected to the other plug on that cylinder.
both plugs in each cylinder do not fire at the same time. One fires like normal through the coil, and the other fires when the piston is on its way down by a 'waste spark' from another cylinder.
to make them fire at the same time, go buy a set of shorty spark plug wires. Taylor makes them. they won't help or hurt hp, will make your emissions a little bit worse (not enough to throw a CEL or fail emissions test), but will clean up the area.
