I had the EXACT same thing happen to me and a Olds 350. I used Marvel Mystery Oil in mine and shortly after it started to knock. It got so bad that mine the time I limped it home it wouldnt even stay running on its own. I pulled the engine and tore it apart and it broke loose all the gunk in the top of the engine and clogged the oil drain holes in the galley so all the oil was on the top half of the engine and none in the pan. I literally could scrape that stuff out with a spoon. I ended up spinning two main bearings and ruining the crank.
