Default best way to refinish bug guard

i picked up a black bug guard off craigslist for 40 today, it has a few scratches on it. would sanding it down and then niteshading it, resanding and clearcoating it make it look better?

btw yall are making me poor. pay day come and half went straight to the truck.
stubby antenna
trans and dif flushed and filled
bug guard
fog lights
hellas
and probably ordering coolant today(which is the best, im just a little low. would topping off the resevoir be best? or full flush?)

Try the meguiar's headlight restore kit, it's a plastic polish with a buffing wheel you attach to your drill.

Should be able to pick it up at any parts store. A 3M polishing compound will probably work too, with a little elbow grease.

^ 1+ You can take some 2000 grit paper to level out some of the scratches if they are deep enough. Then either use the Meguiar's or use some Blue Magic. Make sure you apply a coat of wax to it, or in about three months of baking in the sun, it will start to have a flat look to it. This is because you basically are taking off the glossy finish.
