Default Dash cracking anyone?

Ok so I love my ram, but the little things about the interior **** me off. The biggest is my truck has a blue interior and the dash is gone all to hell. Anyone have the same issuses? The truck has only been outside for 3 years of its life and its cleaned on a regular basis. Sorry for the big pics.

Its cracking there by the side window vent. The air bag cover is coming off. I have a crack from the windsheild to the speaker hole on the center and passenger's side of the truck.

Here is a picture of the truck if anyone wants to see. Ignore the stupid 2wd rake on a 4wd.

Rams have had a history of cracking dashes and that is minor compared to the 2000 and 2001 dash cracks. Mine had big chunks falling into the dash. Do a google search on cracked dodge dash and see all the stuff you get.

If the air bag is falling out that is a safety hazard, call dodge and ask to speak to a manager. I got mine replaced by dodge in my 2000 before I traded it in.

Default Cracked Dash - PITA

Yes the cracked dash seems to be a problem especially here in our hot Texas sun; my old 99' ranch truck has a dash cracked all-to-hell / that's why when I bought the 2005 new I put a DashMat Ultimat on it before it reached 100 miles on the odometer. So far the 05' dash is truly in perfect shape. I know that won't solve your cracked-dash problem now but at least it will cover it up.

It's just plain stupid. At work we have all kinds of ford trucks and they used up in the mountains and after about 5 years of that there is nothing left of the truck due to all the abuse. Not one truck had a bad dash not even the ones that were flipped over.

My next truck will be a ford..........

Default Same issue

I have an 2002. I have the same crack in almost the exact same place as your pic. But that wasn't the 1st one. I replaced the crappy plastic insert that sits between the windshield and the main part of the dash ($200). It became so brittle that the slight touch would drop pieces down into the vent. Like the others have said - at least its not as bad as some of the videos and news reports I have seen on the net.

As others have said, rams have a history of cracked dashes so I guess it's just part of ownership. Do you use one of those windshield covers? Like the one in my trucks album. They help with heat and I think help stop the dash from cracking. I use one on my mercedes (my model is prone to dash cracks) and my dash is perfect.

My truck is an '01, and my dash is cracked to hell. I think some of the 3rd Gens are getting enough time and mileage that cracked dashes are starting to pop up.
