Wow Great Ride w/Air Lift Bags
Hey all just got back to GA from going up to my hometown of Syracuse NY and then down to NYC and Long Island. I installed the Air Lift bags a few weeks ago per the photos I posted (I need to post more) Wow what a ride I had, I had the bed box loaded up with about 150-175 lbs. worth of tools and equipment. I'm a firm believer of being prepared for the worst to help out or to get myself out of a bind. I went with 15 psi in the bags and "Brandie" handled like a charm.
Well my aunt gave us about 400 lbs of NY slate, I've got photos too, then we got a deal on one of those 16' dia x 4' pool at about 125lbs, so I'm tooling down to NYC and LI with about 850lbs with the luggage, rocks and all. I upped the air pressure to 50 psi's and it rode like a dream. Believe it or not we averaged 18+ going up (w/20+ in PA to NY cool temps helped) and 16.5 mpg’s coming back @ 65-70 mph's, I was stoked. The best and worst mpg’s were in PA/NJ through the Poconos 6.2 for a low for10-15 miles, and for some reason I went for about 8 miles w/a reading of 43 mpg's. I know don't always rely on the overhead read out all the time but it was pretty close.
I did do a lot of Tow/haul mode through LI because the traffic sucked big Monkey nads, but that's another story.
All I can say is I was very pleased with the Air Lift bags and highly recommend them to everyone. But stay off the LI Express way/Beltway 2-3 hr's in traffic and I've come to believe that it doesn't matter what state you drive through there are stupid drivers everywhere!!! There are those who think they are the driving "KING'S" of the world who cause 1/2 off the pile up's on the high ways because they drive slow in the lefthand or middle lanes and NEVER move over, even for the FD/EMT personnel, just oblivious to everything around them.
To those people I say " Wake up, get off the cell phone and MOVE OVER!!!"
Stay safe out there, H
