Default Stock Wheels/ How High?

Alright, I'm an indecisive pain in the ***. I started a thread yesterday regarding aftermarket wheels. I did a search and couldn't find the information that I am looking for addressing max tire height/ size on a stock 17" rim. I really don't want to keep the stockers but it may be the only option. My truck looks kinda dumb with the small wheels/ tires under it. So if I try to fill my wheel well with rubber without increasing the wheel size, what kind of issues am I going to run into? I can imagine there will be increased roll in the corners since there is less rigid mass in the center (hence low profiles on sport cars), however how much differance does and inch make (I'm only looking to move up to 18")? What have you all done and could you post pics of stock (17" chrome covered steel wheels that are stock on the 2500 SLT) wheels with increased tire size? I am planning to do a leveling kit and put 33"s on it. Thanks for the help!

As far as the height you can go up to 46's on a 17'' rim because that is about as big as they make them. The biggest thing is the width of the tire. On a 17x8 rim, like you have, you really don't want to go any wider than a 12.5'' wide tire. Alot of people on the Diesel side are running 35x12.5's on their stock 17's. I strongly advise not to go any wider than a 12.5 width though. And for most 2500's they can fit 35's without even leveling it so you will need to get 35's otherwise they will look like babies on your truck. Hell I have 33's on a stock height 1500 4x4 and I still have some more room in their. Your truck sits about 3 inches higher than mine stock and you are going to level it. You should go with 35's for sure. I saw one 06 2500 4x4 that put 37x12.5's on his stock rims at stock height. So I would say go with the 35's and look for a E rated tire.

325/70/17 is a 34.9" tire at 12.7" wide http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/4-NEW...lenotsupported
305/70/18 is a 34.8" tire at 12" wide (even though they say 12.5) http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Dick-...lenotsupported
