Default Snakes In The dash

I hope not! I've got a hissing noise coming from the dash-board of my truck when I turn the steering wheel. The weird thing is that the noise stops if I step on the brake pedal. So, I'm thinking something to do with the power brakes/steering. It's a 2003 Ram 3500 CTD. Any help in identifying the mystery noise would be appreciated.

Snakes have been found in dashes before...... It's nice and warm. JK
My Mercedes does the same thing when the automatic climate control is on. I think it is the AC compressor but that is just a shot in the dark. I would like to know how people respond to this issue. I'm subscribed.

Sound like a vacuum leak. Power brakes are vacuum powered

it probably has something to do with the safety switch on the gear shift, since it doesnt do it when you are on the brake.

It cant be that because it's a diesel. Diesel motors dont pull enough vacuum for the brakes. They are boosted by the power steering pump, which may be why the noise stops when the brakes are pushed.

i'd love to know what this is as well. My wife's Ford Expedition does the exact same thing. Sounds like a hissing noise coming from the vents, but goes away when you press the brakes. I'll be watching this thread to see if anyone knows what's casuing this.
