Question 2004 Dodge Ram QC Hemi - Need to replace rotors & pads

Can someone help me out???

I have a bad front end shake when stopping and suspect I need to replace the rotors and pads. Can anyone give me information on:

-how to change them
-tools needed
-recommended parts
-approximate cost

I could sure use your help. Is it much cheaper for me to do this myself - or is it too complicated and just take it to a shop?

Thanks, David

def can do it yourself. google how to change disc brakes (they're alllll the same). as for pads/rotors you could be lookin at $100 total for the cheap stuff, as high as $500+ for some good quality stopping power. a lot of people use hawk pads but at $80 a set, they're pretty expensive. i'd go with whatever your local autozone/napa/pep boys/etc. has in the ceramic realm. most of them have a lifetime warranty on the pads, so even when they wear out you just take the old ones back and get new ones for free.

+1 on above, when mine started to shake a bit I pulled the rotors and had them turned at Oriellys for about $8 each maybe. It was cheaper than buying new rotors although next time I will have to buy new ones. My pads are the Cmax from AZ. They are ceramics and very nice pads. No noise and no dust. They were $60 for the front and another $60 for the rear. As for tools needs, even though I have changed mine before, I dont remember what I used.
