Default Painted My Tailgate Spoiler

Okay, well today I got bored(really tonight) and decided to take my tailgate spoiler off and paint it. Sanded it down really good, some mold release remover and some paint thinner (to remove grease/oil/armor all) and then sprayed it good with two coats of adhesion promoter.

I decided to try and use some new paint. I got a spray bomb of rustoleum automotive primer. Sprayed two good coats of that on it.
Then some krylon fusion plastic gloss black, sprayed 3 coats of that. Was not glossy at all. Then sprayed two coats of krylon fusion super gloss black. No clear.

Well, it turned out alright. I haven't seen it during the day so I'm not completely sure yet. Had some bumps in the paint, I used a little rubbing compound and polished it a lil bit. By the looks of it I will have to go over it with some color match duplicolor because it is too black for my metallic shade. I used the krylon because I figured maybe plastic paint would hold up better. I use my bed everyday so we will see! I will take more pics tomorrow.
EDIT-I went ahead and color matched...pics

Looks good from the pics? Why did you paint it, was it faded from the sun?
Mine gets beat up right in the middle from my trailer jack. i got a long drop reciever so the jack would clear the tailgate but it still just barely touched on flat ground and rubs pretty goo if I'm at a tilt in angle. That plastic is fairly soft and as long as you prepped properly, it should hold. You may get minor chipping or peeling in heavy use spots, but the rest should hold up.

Think of it like this. How long did it take you? how much did it cost? Not long and not much! So what if you had to re-coat once a year.

yea mine gets beat up on the ends from my ramps. And I also ran a bead of RTV silicone around the whole lip, so now hopefully after I clean it it wont leave those dripmarks down the tailgate
